Long before she founded Kamarron Design, Inc., Kara A. Karpenske, IFDA, demonstrated an innate talent for design. Her knack for selecting interior elements, putting together rooms and conceiving innovative solutions earned her a reputation among friends as the go-to girl for home design ideas. It was not until Kara’s sister asked her to help design her master bathroom that she made the decision to turn her passion into a profession. Establishing her interior design firm in 2001, Kara has since shared her talent with fellow Midwesterners as well as discerning clients in Austin, Las Vegas, New Orleans and Washington, D.C.

Along with her well-honed design talent and keen business savvy, Kara brings to each new project the honesty and kindness indicative of her midwestern upbringing. Though her design philosophy involves beginning with clean, classic lines and then adding lots of unique details, she directs her focus to the client’s lifestyle and predilection. She prides herself on designing for any budget, and her uncanny ability to use ordinary items in new and exciting ways ensures that luxury remains affordable to all.

Able to glean owners’ style preferences mere moments after stepping into their homes, Kara has delighted even the most apprehensive clients. Frequent travels to such exotic locales as Spain, Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, and enchanted U.S. cities inspire her with fresh ideas and interesting materials to bring to each new project. Her artistry has won her several prestigious awards and appearances in publications the likes of Visions of Design, Dream Homes of the Deserts, Spectacular Homes of Minnesota, Midwest Home and Mpls. St. Paul. Friendly and approachable, Kara develops intimate friendships with each of her clients. Little wonder, then, that 95 percent of her business comes from client referrals—her true reward.

Kara attended the University of Wisconsin and has served on the board of directors for the International Furnishings and Design Association as a Vice President.
